Nab Ranch is locate North of the pleasant small town of Jerome, Idaho. Snake River Canyon Area. We did not set up the Ranch to raise Aberdeen Cattle. We built the Ranch for Cattle and the Lord introduced us to the Aberdeen Angus and we have never looked back. The background of our herd Starts back in 1996 with 5 American Ranchers each chipping in $10,000.00 for a total of $50,000.00 to bring Brambletye Q117 Quartermaster (FM 1) from Australia to the United States of America. Pictured below.

Quartermaster became a very famous Bull here in the United States and was the first Animal ever Registered through the American Aberdeen Association, (At That Time Referred to as the American Lowline Registry).
Also in 1996 Gene Kantack of Idaho Falls went to Australia and purchased 5 Aberdeen Heifers, and semen of the 5 top Aberdeen Bulls in Australia. Then Started Mini Cows West.
Charles Solace of Eden Idaho began buying Semen from Gene Kantact for artificial insemination of his standard Black Angus Cattle. The calves of the calves of his cattle is where our herd began. Charles artificial insemination netted him 5 cows that were 75% Fullblood Aberdeen and 25% standard Black Angus cattle. Charles Solace then purchased the son of Quatermaster, a bull by the name of Quartermaster's Best (FM 3260).
Our original startup was 8 heifers out of Charles Solace's 5 unregistered Aberdeen Cattle bred to Quartermaster's best. These heifer's although purebred in bloodlines were registered as 50% Fullblood and 50% commercial cattle. There were also 3 Aberdeen Heifers that were completely undocumented that came from Keith Huettig's ranch in Hunt Idaho.
With our heifers we brought in Our first Fullblood Bull. A Bull by the Name of TL Little Jas (FM 8183) of the Topline Aberdeen's. Pictured below.

Eight daughters of Jas were kept to further our Herd. Also to increase our herd purity, Fullblood Embryos were purchased from Gene Kantact out of the Famous Australian Bull Rouseabout. We Netted a fullblood heifer out of those embryos. NAB Magic (FF 26555). Magic already has four fullblood daughters on the ground.
Our next Fullblood Bull we brought into the Herd is an extreme large bull, also a Rouseabout descendant. WRR Odin (FM 22086) was born at 57 lbs. Extremely large for an Aberdeen Bull Calf. Odin is pictured below. Odin stands 48 1/2 Inches tall at the shoulders and weighs about 1500 pounds. Odin is as good natured of a bull as you can have, minds well, responds to voice commands and is one of the most domesticated animals in the herd. Several Daughters of Odin were kept as a part of the herd.

Then to further increase the purity of our herd Bryan Thompson of Select sires flushed embryos out his extremely large fullblood cow (approximately 1100 lbs) Trixie (FF 8867). Trixie is a cow out of Brenton Line of Fullbloods. Most know for Brenton's Best Bruiser (FM 46) Pictured below.
Those eggs were fertilized with semen from the then and multi time Grand Champion show bull of Australia Murrumbong Roulette (FM 2442). Roulette is like a local celebrity in Australia and is pictured below.
Four Fullblood calves were netted from the Roulette Embryos, 2 Bulls, NAB Hercules, (FM 29170) and NAB Zeus, (FM 29171) and 2 Heifers, NAB Misti, (FF 29169) and NAB Aurora, (FF 33023).
Semen was also purchased from Gene Kantack from the highly popular Fullblood Bull Buzz (FM 70). This semen was used on Odin's daughter Tricia and on the Fullblood Heifers Magic and Misti.
Zeus, the larger of the Bull calves was born weighing 60 lbs, extreme large for a Fullblood Aberdeen Bull. Zeus was kept as our future herd bull and Hercules was traded to another ranch. Zeus is pictured below and he has become one the best bulls I have ever laid eyes on and has the disposition of a puppy dog.

We have also Started bringing in semen from several of the top Fullblood Bulls to keep our blood lines clean.
This herd of cattle was also discussed in an article published by Capitol Press in December of 2015, (Lowline Angus offers big value for its small size) discussing the advantage of Aberdeen (Lowline) Angus over other breeds.
This is the story of how some of the best beef animals on earth ended up here at our little Ranch in Jerome, Idaho.
